The new voice of CALGARY FLAMES hockey on ROGERS Sports CFAC-A (SPORTSNET 960 THE FAN)/CALGARY will be former HAMILTON BULLDOGS broadcaster DEREK WILLS. WILLS, the BULLDOGS' radio voice for 13 seasons, is replacing PETER MAHER and will be joined by the returning PETER LOUBARDIAS for FLAMES broadcasts. The addition of WILLS is part of a larger revamp of the team's broadcasting crew, with VANCOUVER CANUCKS radio voice RICK BALL and CBC "HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA" analyst and former NHL goalie KELLY HRUDEY named to join studio host ROGER MILLIONS for television coverage on SPORTSNET, replacing ROB KERR and CHARLIE SIMMER.
WILLS said, “I'm thrilled to be joining SPORTSNET 960 THE FAN to call CALGARY FLAMES games. I'm so excited to be moving to a world-class city in CALGARY and to be working with first-class organizations in SPORTSNET and the FLAMES. Being an NHL broadcaster has been a life-long goal, so I'm really looking forward to working with PETER and the SPORTSNET 960 THE FAN team to deliver the excitement of FLAMES hockey to the passionate fans of CALGARY for years to come.”
FLAMES Pres./CEO KEN KING added, “SPORTSNET and ROGERS have assembled an all-star broadcast crew to provide FLAMES fans with valuable insight, analysis and exceptional coverage that FLAMES fans so richly deserve. On behalf of the FLAMES family, we welcome KELLY, RICK and DEREK to our team and of course, welcome back PETER LOUBARDIAS and ROGER MILLIONS. It’s going to be an exciting season and now thanks to SPORTSNET and ROGERS, FLAMES fans have an all-access pass.”
