STING, AL GREEN, TOM HANKS and LILY TOMLIN will be joined by GEORGE BALLANCHINE associate PATRICIA MCBRIDE to receive the KENNEDY CENTER HONORS in front of PRESIDENT OBAMA and a primetime nationwide audience.
“I guess we made it!” soul singer GREEN told the WASHINGTON POST from MEMPHIS.
“It was a huge surprise, bigger than huge,” TOMLIN admitted from LOS ANGELES, where she's shooting a new TV series.
The ceremony will take place on DECEMBER 7th in the OPERA HOUSE and will be telecast DECEMBER 30th on CBS.
STING will make his BROADWAY debut as a composer this month with “The Last Ship,” based on his childhood in an English shipbuilding town.
The event raised $6.3 million for the KENNEDY CENTER last yea, according to co-producer GEORGE STEVENS, JR.
