MAPLETON COMMUNICATIONS has closed on the purchase of AC KWAV/MONTEREY from BUCKLEY RADIO. This adds KWAV to MAPLETON's MONTEREY cluster, which includes Top 40/Mainstream KCDU, Classic Rock KHIP, Triple A KPIG and Adult Hits KKHK. KWAV drops its 'Soft Rock' moniker and rebrands as 'Today's KWAV 96.9'. KWAV remains an AC.
MAPLETON/MONTEREY Market Manager JODI MORGAN has appointed Regional PD TOMMY DEL RIO, as PD of KWAV.
Returning to the station for mornings, after a 10-year hiatus, is JACK PETERSON. CANDY JAMES remains in her midday slot and STEVE DAVIS continues in afternoons. DAVIS adds Production Director duties for the cluster. KWAV continues to carry the PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS' DELILAH at night.
MAPLETON CEO JIM SHEA commented on the KWAV acquisition saying, "The addition of KWAV to our already very successful cluster of stations will solidify our position as the number one media in the MONTEREY Market."
