EMMIS COMMUNICATIONS has hired both ALAN BURNS and ASSOCIATES and ZAPOLEON MEDIA to advise on the execution of the new MOViN 93.9 (formerly Country KZLA)/LOS ANGELES, which launched last THURSDAY (8/17) under EMMIS VP/Programming JIMMY STEAL, and EMMIS RADIO VP VAL MAKI.
"We got the two best guys in the business, said EMMIS President RICK CUMMINGS. "We have a great deal of respect for each other, said ALAN BURNS, "and the last time we worked together on a project, it too was a home run." BURNS and ZAPOLEON last worked together on the launch of Hot AC KHMX/HOUSTON, in the early 90s when BURNS consulted and ZAPOLEON was the station’s PD. KHMX went on to become a perennial 25-54 success in the market.
"ALAN and I are thrilled to be working with such an amazing group of broadcasters like VAL MAKI, JIMMY STEAL, and RICK CUMMINGS," said ZAPOLEON. "After growing up in L.A. and working in L.A. radio for ten years I understand the power and appeal of Rhythmic music here," he concluded.
Both BURNS and ZAPOLEON have extensive experience in the LA market. ZAPOLEON’s goes all the way back to when he was MD at KRTH and KRLA, as well as consulting several of L.A’.s leading radio stations over the past 15 years, and BURNS’ consulting clients have included KIIS and KBIG.
