U2 To Release 'Songs Of Innocence On October 14th

Fresh from their live performance at today's APPLE new product showcase to introduce the latest iteration of its IPHONE in CUPERTINO, CA (see related NET NEWS story), U2 has announced it will release 'Songs Of Innocence,' its new studio album, on INTERSCOPE RECORDS, OCTOBER 14th.
The band's latest studio album will contain 11 new tracks. The news comes after the album was gifted by APPLE to over half a billion ITUNES MUSIC STORE customers worldwide immediately.
The band performed the first single, "The MIracle (Of Joey Ramone)," for the crowd.
"Songs Of Innocence" is being described as the band's "most personal work to date", charting its earliest influences from '70s rock and punk-rock to early '80s electronica and ambient music, offering "insight into how and why the group came together." The album deals with themes of home and family, relationships and discovery and was recorded in DUBLIN, LONDON, NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, and was produced by DANGER MOUSE, along with PAUL EPWORTH, RYAN TEDDER, DECLAN GAFFNEY and FLOOD.
