Back in JANUARY 2013 (NET NEWS 1/28/2013), AUSTEREO Top 40 2DAY FM/SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA hosts MEL GRIEG and MICHAEL CHRISTIAN lost their jobs over a prank phone call to KATE MIDDLETON, who was in the hospital at the time giving birth to THE U.K.'s PRINCE WILLIAM and her baby.
Now, AUSTEREO "has repeated its apology, following a coronial inquest in LONDON, and donated $500,000 to a trust fund for JACINTHA SALDANHA’s family to help them rebuild their lives," reports NEWS.COM.AU.
“We do not assume, of course, that this donation or any amount of money could relieve the feelings of loss felt by Ms SALDANHA’s family. But it is our hope that it may help them,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “We also note that the coroner has said there is no causation as a matter of law between the hoax call and any subsequent voluntary action by Ms SALDANHA.”
