Last week (NET NEWS 9/11), ALL ACCESS reported the three-way deal that saw QANTUM swap 29 stations to CLEAR CHANNEL for AC WALK-F/PATCHOGUE, NY from the ALOHA STATION TRUST and then sell WALK to CONNOISSEUR MEDIA for $50 million had closed.
Now, WALK's new owners have moved the station to their FARMINGDALE, NY location, which also houses Hot AC WKJY (K-98.3), Classic Hits WBZO (B103), WWSK (94.3 THE SHARK) and Adult Standards WHLI-A.
“Being born and raised on LONG ISLAND, I’m privileged to welcome WALK A/F to CONNOISSEUR MEDIA and our LONG ISLAND portfolio,” said CEO JEFFREY D. WARSHAW. “It’s exciting to merge these two great radio stations with our other properties on LONG ISLAND. Each has had a rich history of broadcast excellence and strong commitment to serving the local LONG ISLAND communities. We feel privileged to continue that legacy and are looking forward to our increased abilities to serve LONG ISLAND.”
Current CONNOISSEUR MEDIA/LONG ISLAND GM/Market Manager DAVE WIDMER will oversee the expanded CONNOISSEUR FARMINGDALE-based operation. Current WALK GM JIM CONDRON, will be retained by CONNOISSEUR MEDIA as SVP/Regional Strategy.
“Our ability to serve the listeners of LONG ISLAND has always been the focus of CONNOISSEUR/LONG ISLAND. The addition of WALK significantly increases that ability,” said WIDMER. “The expansion of the CONNOISSEUR/LONG ISLAND footprint will afford us the ability to continue producing high-quality broadcasts heard from MONTAUK to MANHATTAN and to better serve both our listeners and advertisers”.
CONNOISSEUR also announced that heritage brand, WHLI-A (1100AM), will now be simulcast on 1370AM.
