HUBBARD BROADCASTING Rock KDKB/PHOENIX flipped to Alternative as "ALT AZ 93-3" at noon kicking off three days of non-stop music with hometown KONGOS - Come With Me Now.
The station began stunting this morning as "93.3 THE CHEESE," playing nothing but RICHARD CHEESE comedy music.
VP/Market Mgr. TRIP REEB said, "This is a format that has not been on PHOENIX radio with a full signal in several years, and after investigating the desire for this kind of station, it was decided 93.3 with its great signal and creative heritage was the perfect place. We’re excited to offer a new powerful home for Alternative music on 93.3. It’s time this music had a strong outlet in PHOENIX, And it is the perfect complement for our other rock mainstays, 98KUPD and 100.7 KSLX."
An experienced and talented team orchestrated the launch of “ARIZONA’S ALTERNATIVE” led by TRIP REEB who is no stranger to building a winning team and success in radio. For almost 20 years he was the architect of The World Famous KROQ/LOS ANGELES. The sales effort at ALT AZ 93-3 will initially be managed by JEFF ENGLAND VP/DOS HUBBARD RADIO PHOENIX, formally President/Market Manager of cross-town CCM+E's cluster.
PHOENIX Alternative radio veterans NANCY STEVENS and JAIME SEIDENSTICKER are both on board in the Music and Promotion/Marketing areas. DREW HUTCHINSON is tapped as the Dir./Digital Sales And Web Development.
KDKB had been a Rock station for more than 40 years. Former KDKB PD/afternooner PAUL MARSHALL and the entire KDKB air staff was let go yesterday, including morning Show SHMONTY AND CONKLIN (aka ERIC ASHMONT AND KEVIN CONKLIN), middayer RUBY CHEEKS, and night-timer MIKE GAUBE.
