iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES morning sports anchor RICH MAROTTA told listeners at the end of BILL HANDEL's morning show that he is retiring from radio.
MAROTTA, who has called LOS ANGELES KINGS, OAKLAND and LOS ANGELES RAIDERS, and LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS games over the years, will continue to call boxing for FOX SPORTS WEST. He has been doing his KFI work from his RENO home for several years via ISDN.
That leaves KFI with an opening for a full-time sports anchor for HANDEL's show. The station is looking for someone to do twice-hourly sports reports that include more than the usual X's and O's and who sounds "bigger than life," and is able to hold his or her own against HANDEL and the rest of the crew while bringing "more than 'sports' to the table every morning. Interested candidates can send a demo and resume to PD ROBIN BERTOLUCCI, KFI-A 640, 3400 West Olive Ave., Suite 550, BURBANK, CA 91505 or send a resume and MP3 demo of two minutes or less to RobinBertolucci@iHeartMedia.com.
