ALL ACCESS congratulates BIG MACHINE artist TIM MCGRAW and the entire BMLG team for this week’s #1 Country album debut of MCGRAW’s “Sundown Heaven Town,” which sold more than 71,000 first-week copies, according to NIELSEN SOUNDSCAN figures.
This is MCGRAW’s 15th career Country album chart-topper, a tally that includes four Greatest Hits compilations. “Sundown Heaven Town” marks his second album release on BIG MACHINE; 2013’s “Two Lanes Of Freedom” also debuted at #1, moving more than 108,000 copies its first week.
In addition to topping the Country Album chart, “Sundown Heaven Town” ranked #3 among all-genre albums, behind CHRIS BROWN and BARBARA STREISAND, whose “Partners” #1 debut is notable, in that it gives STREISAND a #1 album in each of the last six decades.
Behind MCGRAW on both charts was MCA’s venerable GEORGE STRAIT, whose “The Cowboy Rides Away: Live from AT&T Stadium” sold more than 51,000 copies.
