TRIBUNE News-Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO will add news content as the CHICAGO CUBS season comes to an end and the team moves to crosstown CBS RADIO News WBBM-A, WGN President JIMMY DE CASTRO tells the CHICAGO TRIBUNE.
Among the changes, WGN is launching "BUSINESS LUNCH" on MONDAY at noon (CT) as the first hour of BOB SIROTT and MARIANNE MURCIANO's midday show, and former FOX O&O WFLD-TV (FOX 32) "GOOD DAY CHICAGO" co-host ANNA DAVLANTES is joining STEVE COCHRAN's morning show starting OCTOBER 13th to anchor "THE BIG STORY," a 90-second feature report on a trending news story, at the bottom of each hour.
"We're going to put more emphasis and energy into news, particularly while they're doing baseball," DE CASTRO told the TRIBUNE. And VP/Content and Programming TODD MANLEY added that the station's use of TOPICPULSE to track hot trending topics will be used "as a really good source of checks and balances on how we approach stories." MANLEY said that the station will be increasing its news staff and its commitment to "original reporting."
