KUSC and NPR Music To Broadcast Dudamel and L.A. Phil from Walt Disney Concert Hall

NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO station KUSC (91.5 FM)/LOS ANGELES and NPR MUSIC will broadcast GUSTAVO DUDAMEL conducting the LOS ANGELES PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, from WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2nd at 8p (PT).
This marks the first subscription concert of the 2014-'15 season, which will be carried on KUSC with a live, national, audio-only webcast on NPR MUSIC’s website. The broadcast will be hosted by GAIL EICHENTHAL and BRIAN LAURITZEN, and will feature artist and musician interviews during intermission. The program begins with the U.S. premiere of PULITZER PRIZE-winning composer DAVID LANG’s new percussion concerto "man made,' featuring SO PERCUSSION.
DUDAME,L concludes the program with MAHLER’s "Fifth Symphony." Performances of this program continue on OCTOBER 3rd at 11a (PT); OCTOBER. 4th at 8p (ET); and OCTOBER 5th at 2p (PT). SO PERCUSSION also returns to WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL for a GREEN UMBRELLA program of LANG’s "the so-called laws of nature" and MICHAEL GORDON's "Timber," OCTOBER 7th at 8p (PT).
The following week, OCTOBER 9th-12th, DUDAMEL and the LOS ANGELES PHILHARMONIC welcome back pianist LEIF OVE ANDSNES in the in the BEETHOVEN CYCLE FINAL, performing the composer’s Piano Concerto No. 5, “Emperor.” The program also includes JOHN ADAMS’ "Harmonium" and BEETHOVEN’s "Choral Fantasy." The concerts on OCTOBER 11th and 12th will be broadcast at a later date by KUSC and AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA (APM).
