The NBA's CHARLOTTE HORNETS (formerly the BOBCATS) have inked a new multi-year agreement to continue with CBS RADIO Sports WFNZ-A (610 AM THE FAN)/CHARLOTTE as the flagship for the team's radio network, with marketing opportunities across the cluster. Terms were not disclosed. SCOTT LAUER will be back for his eighth season calling play-by-play, with former BOBCATS player MATT CARROLL as analyst for home games.
HORNETS President/COO FRED WHITFIELD said, "We’re thrilled to be returning to WFNZ, the premier sports talk station in the CAROLINAS. We’ve had a great relationship with WFNZ and the entire family of CBS RADIO stations in CHARLOTTE. This partnership gives us the unique opportunity to reach HORNETS fans across the radio dial."
OM/PD D.J. STOUT said, "WFNZ couldn't be happier to be the home of the CHARLOTTE HORNETS. I don't think our city has ever been this fired up about NBA basketball and we're thrilled to be the station that will be carrying all the action."
