MERCURY NASHVILLE has hired JACK CHRISTOPHER as Dir./SOUTHEAST Promotion, effective TODAY (9/30). He succeeds BRUCE SHINDLER, who will retire at the end of the year.
“While we will miss BRUCE tremendously, we could not be more pleased with the person we have hired to fill his shoes," said UMG NASHVILLE SVP/Promotion ROYCE RISSER. "JACK CHRISTOPHER is a first-round draft pick for sure; an absolute killer promo vet who has never lost his passion or his drive to win. DAMON [MOBERLY] and I both have worked alongside JACK, all at different companies, and both knew that he was the one to go after once BRUCE made known his plans. JACK has always been one of those people you love to be around, who makes you smile, and all the while is getting results. We couldn’t be more pumped to add him to our squad.”
JACK's resume includes 10 years in broadcasting at CBS Country WDSY/PITTSBURGH and promotional stints at BIGGER PICTURE GROUP, EQUITY MUSIC GROUP, 13 years at COLUMBIA NASHVILLE, and most recently, VP/Promotion at RPM ENTERTAINMENT (NET NEWS 05/29/12).
Congratulate him here.
SHINDLER has spent 41 years as a promotion executive. His resume includes time at ASSOCIATED DISTRIBUTORS in PHOENIX where he received his start in 1972, BUDDAH RECORDS in NYC, ELEKTRA/ASYLUM RECORDS, INFINITY RECORDS, MTM RECORDS, RCA RECORDS, seven years with his own independent company SHINDLER-TURNER PROMOTIONS, DREAMWORKS RECORDS and the past 10 years with UMG NASHVILLE.
“I made a decision a while ago that there are other interests in my life that I would love to pursue after 41 great years in record promotion,” said SHINDLER. “The time has arrived to spend more time with my family and to pursue a license in alcohol and drug counseling. Leaving the folks and terrific artists at UMG as well as my friends at radio and industry is not an easy decision as many have been an important part of my life in a business that I’ve loved. I want to thank MIKE DUNGAN, LUKE LEWIS, ROYCE RISSER, DAMON MOBERLY and my family at UMG for the last 17 years. I will always value our relationship with all my heart.”
