KYXY's Sonny West Calls It A Career After 40 Years

CBS RADIO AC KYXY/SAN DIEGO air personality SONNY WEST, co-host of the "The Afternoon Ride with SONNY, SUSAN & KEVIN," ended his 24-year run at the station on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1st. The one-time PD and co-host of the KYXY morning show -- before segueing to afternoons -- began his radio career 40 years ago at crosstown noncommercial KPBS.

“SONNY is so much more than a consummate entertainer, he’s represents what’s best about radio," CBS RADIO/SAN DIEGO OM and KYXY PD CHARLIE QUINN said. "In his own words ‘You’re not on the air for a long time, you’re on the air for a good time!’

SONNY’s cohorts, SUSAN DEVINCENT and KEVIN DEAN will continue as hosts of KYXY’s "Afternoon Ride" show.
