Jury: 2GB/Sydney's Jones Defamed Olympic Rowing Boss

Talk 2GB/SYDNEY and host ALAN JONES have lost the first round of a defamation case filed by AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC COMMITTEE head JOHN COATES. A jury ruled that JONES's comments last DECEMBER 8 and 9 accusing COATES of bullying the Australian Women's Rowing Crew and poorly handling the incident in which rower SALLY ROBBINS stopped rowing in the women's eights final in ATHENS, were defamatory; the case in NEW SOUTH WALES Superior Court now goes to a judge for a hearing in which the station and JONES may present their defenses.
