In a blog post at the FCC website THURSDAY (10/9), Special Counsel to the Chairman DIANE CORNELL offered an update on process reform at the Commission with a focus on clearing the agency's backlog.
In the post, CORNELL noted that the Enforcement Bureau has "largely completed its review of pending complaints," leading to almost 700 license renewals granted this week; the Media Bureau disposed of 55 competition rulings requests in a MARCH omnibus ruling; and the Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau closed over 760 dockets this year with another 750 on track to be closed by the end of the year.
CORNELL promised "much more to come in the months ahead" on clearing the decks of unresolved cases at the Commission.
