Z100 Announces Fifth Annual 'Hometown Hero Competition' For Emerging Musicians

IHEARTMEDIA Top 40 WHTZ (Z100)/NEW YORK announced the launch of its fifth annual HOMETOWN HERO competition sponsored by STATE FARM and powered by EVENTFUL.

Tri-state area musicians will compete to win the chance to perform live at the Z100 and COCA-COLA All Access Lounge at N.Y.'s  HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM, which serves as the pre-event to Z100’s JINGLE BALL, the annual holiday concert, on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12th.  The winner will be determined with the help of EVENTFUL, and its unique DEMAND IT! social media platform.  Last year’s winner, COLOMBIA-born LATIN pop singer MATT HUNTER, performed in front of more than 10,000 attendees at Z100 COCA-COLA’s All Access Lounge and was a part of a star-studded lineup that included AUSTIN MAHONE, FIFTH HARMONY, TRAVIS McCOY and PARAMORE.

From MONDAY, OCTOBER 13th until TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4th, at 11:59p (ET), unsigned artists and bands from NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY and CONNECTICUT are invited to sign up for the chance to win Z100’s HOMETOWN HERO contest at www.Z100.com (keyword: HOMETOWN HERO).  Fans can vote for their favorite artist or band at http://eventful.com/Z100, and are prompted to invite their friends to demand their favorite artist or band through FACEBOOK and TWITTER.

The top 25 artists with the most "Demands" will move to a semi-finals round on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6th, which will then be narrowed down to the final five by an A-List panel of music industry judges on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11th.  Judges include Z100 PD SHARON DASTUR, Z100 on-air personality JJ, REPUBLIC RECORDS SVP Promotion GARY SPANGLER, and ATLANTIC RECORDS VP Promotion JON LEWIS.  The ultimate winner will be selected by fans, who will have the chance to vote online for the top five contestants on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11th and will end TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2nd. The winner will be announced live on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4th, at 7p (ET) by Z100 MO' BOUNCE and will have the honor to perform at this year’s Z100 and COCA-COLA All Access Lounge at the HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM on DECEMBER 12th as well as walk the red carpet at the main event, Z100’s JINGLE BALL at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN that evening.
