JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP (JBG) plans to flip its Classic Country brand and calls KFTI to the group's AM 1070, presently Spanish Sports KLIO-A (ESPN DEPORTES 1070). ENVISION BROADCAST NETWORK, LLC will purchase the KFTI (CLASSIC COUNTRY 92.3)/WICHITA signal from JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP, pending FCC approval (NET NEWS 10/10).
"I am excited to return Classic Country to the legendary AM 1070 frequency in WICHITA," stated JBG VP/GM WICHITA OM BEVERLEE BRANNIGAN. "That's where KFDI was born."
Concurrently, JBG Country KFDI (101.3 TODAY'S KFDI)/WICHITA celebrates its 50th anniversary. The station will celebrate their golden anniversary with an on-air retrospective, "KFDI -- Fifty Years and Counting," to air in two parts. The first hour will air this SUNDAY (10/19) at 7p (CT), and the concluding hour will air SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26th at 7p (CT).
The special programming will feature conversations with former KFDI on-air personalities from the past five decades, as well as archive audio content.
"In a business known for frequent change, it is rare to have a station -- any station -- that has kept the same format for 50 years," explained JBG WICHITA OM JUSTIN CASE. "This is a tribute to the support of the WICHITA community."
