BROKEN BOW artist DUSTIN LYNCH found himself catching more than flowers being thrown on stage during his show at the MULLET FESTIVAL in NICEVILLE, FL this past FRIDAY (10/17).
As LYNCH was finishing his cover rendition of the GARTH BROOKS anthem "Friends In Low Places," one unruly fan tossed a beer can at him on stage. "I was walking down the catwalk and wham, out of nowhere this beer can just nailed me in the face," LYNCH told PEOPLE after the incident. "It was a completely full can, and it felt like a baseball had hit me."
With blood dripping from the wound, LYNCH finished his show with professionalism and was taken to the hospital shortly thereafter. The cut required stitches, but LYNCH will not miss any shows due to the injury.
"The moral of the story is don't throw beer cans, period," remarked LYNCH to PEOPLE. "It's not cool. This guy caused an incident that almost ruined a great night. The crowd was insanely loud and supportive and that's why I wanted to finish my show [despite the bleeding]. I didn't want to get off the stage until I had to."
Though several fans in the crowd are reported to have pointed out the aggressor, and LYNCH personally called out the perpetrator from the stage, the accused got away without repercussion.
