Conservative talker DICK MORRIS announced he'll be leaving his post at CBS RADIO News/Talk/Sports WPHT (TALK RADIO 1210)/PHILADELPHIA after the midterm elections next month.
MORRIS was originally hired by the station in MARCH 2013, taking over for former PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER and DAIILY NEWS columnist BUZZ BISSINGER, who left his position in DECEMBER 2012.
Station operations manager ANDY BLOOM said he did not have any plans to replace MORRIS or whether the station would go in a different direction when he leaves. CBS RADIO PHILADELPHIA SVP/Market Manager MARC RAYFIELD told the DAILY NEWS he had known about MORRIS' plans to leave for awhile. "He has done a great job for WPHT and we knew his busy schedule might one day make doing a daily radio show difficult." MORROS split his time between PHILADELPHIA and his FLORIDA home.
The paper reports that SABO MEDIA radio consultant WALTER SABO may be involved in a possible format shift.
"WPHT will remain a locally driven talk radio station," RAYFIELD told the DAILY NEWS, insisting a replacement could be named as early as next week. "WALTER will not be a replacement for DICK."
