JOHN FOGERTY, a VIETNAM War-era vet, will perform at the WHITE HOUSE as part of a VETERAN'S DAY event for PBS. “A Salute To The Troops: In Performance At The White House” will premiere FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7th at 9p (ET) on PBS stations nationwide, as part of the PBS FALL ARTS FESTIVAL
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA and FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA will host the event from the South Lawn of the WHITE HOUSE on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6th, as part of its “Joining Forces” initiative, with an all-star tribute to the men and women who serve the U.S. The concert, before a live audience including hundreds of members of the military, will feature performances, aside from FOGERTY, by MARY J. BLIGE, COMMON, WILLIE NELSON, ROMEO SANTOS and active duty military members U.S. ARMY Sgt. CHRISTINA R. BALL, U.S. MARINE CORPS Captains MATT SMITH and JOHN ED AUER. DON WAS will be the music director. The production is also working with the USO for a performance by DAUGHTRY via satellite from their USO concert at JAPAN's YOKOTA AIR BASE.
FOGERTY's “1969” WORLD TOUR is also set to launch on NOVEMBER 7th in ST. JOHN'S NEWFOUNDLAND and will include CANADIAN performances throughout the month with the conclusion in VICTORIA, BC on NOVEMBER 29th.
