CHICAGOLAND RADIO AND MEDIA is reporting that HUBBARD AC WILV (CHICAGO'S 100.3)/CHICAGO midday host MEGAN REED, "has been off the air this month. According to an internal station announcement today, she will be away from the radio airwaves for a while longer as she bravely battles cancer in her breast and brain. While seeking medical advice for pains in her back, doctors found REED had breast cancer. That cancer has spread and tumors have been found in her head. Surgery, followed by radiation treatments will begin next week."
HUBBARD SVP/Programming GREG SOLK sent this memo to the staff:
"Many of you are keenly aware that we've been missing the heart and soul of our broadcast day with MEGAN REED being absent from the show these past few weeks. MEGAN wants everyone to know that she is battling some pretty tough health issues. Serous back pain led to a series of tests that uncovered Metastatic breast cancer which has spread and caused tumors in her brain. MEGAN's specialists at NORTHWESTERN have scheduled surgery and radiation for next week. The doctors say that her prognosis is good and MEGAN is optimistic that she will be back on the air with all of us very soon.
"She sends her love to all her friends at the station and to her many listeners. We will pass along more information as it becomes available. Thank you. GREG"
All of us at ALL ACCESS wish MEGAN a full and rapid recovery.
