SAM SMITH, MARY J. BLIGE and 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER have been added to the list of artists slated to perform on DICK CLARK PRODUCTIONS' 2014 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS at the NOKIA THEATER L.A. LIVE, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd, televised on ABC from 8-11p (ET/PT).
The three join previously announced performer and nominated singer/songwriter CHARLI XCX and second-time host and performer PITBULL. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
IGGY AZALEA tops the nominee list with six, while contenders include JOHN LEGEND, KATY PERRY and PHARRELL WILLIAMS with five apiece, and LORDE, who earned four.
The show recently made Internet news when SINEAD O'CONNOR blogged about producer MARK SHIMMEL suggesting she perform on the show, but only she would be presented by current POPE FRANCIS. O'CONNOR was famously banned from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE after ripping up a photo of then-POPE JOHN PAUL II before performing an a cappella version of BOB MARLEY's "War" to protest sexual abuse in the CATHOLIC CHURCH.
