No comment from anyone at iHEARTMEDIA, but ALL ACCESS hears it was a busy morning and afternoon at iHEARTMEDIA/NASHVILLE, owing to activation of an EAN (Emergency Action Notification) code to U-VERSE subscribers in the ATLANTA, DETROIT and AUSTIN markets and thought to be inadvertently triggered by PREMIERE syndicated morning personality BOBBY BONES.
MEDIA BISTRO quotes an AT&T statement, saying, “A FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) investigation indicates that a nationally syndicated radio show not affiliated with AT&T accidentally sent a message over the National Emergency Alert System. This false message was carried on our network, as well as some other providers. We apologize to our customers.”
The message claiming to be an emergency alert triggered by the WHITE HOUSE, told recipients their programming was being re-directed to another channel.
