LINCOLN FINANCIAL MEDIA Alternative KBZT (FM 94/9)/SAN DIEGO has launched a monthlong MOVEMBER campaign to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s health by encouraging men to go without shaving for the full 30 days. Prostate cancer survivor STEVE WEST, who hosts "LEGENDS OF ALTERNATIVE" SUNDAYS from 6-10a, will kick things off with his annual 48-hour MOVEMBER Marathon broadcast.
The 48 hour live broadcast will begin on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31st at 8p and on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1st WEST, along with JON FOREMAN from local band SWITCHFOOT and members of the FM 94/9 on-air staff, will ceremonially shave for the final time in the month of NOVEMBER. The broadcast will run from FRIDAY at 8p until SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd at 8p, with special guests and one-of-a-kind auction items, all geared toward generating donations to the Movember Foundation, the leading global organization committed to changing the face of men’s health.
“It’s really amazing to have someone like STEVE WEST, a real survivor and advocate for men’s health on our team” PD KEVIN CALLAHAN said. “Knowing that we can take our position as one of the top radio stations in SAN DIEGO and the #1 Alternative Rock station and benefit such a worthy cause is a truly rewarding opportunity.”
