Former ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS Pres./CEO and BELL MEDIA News-Talk CFRB-A/TORONTO host JOHN TORY has won election as Mayor of TORONTO. TORY edged out councilman and fellow former CFRB host DOUG FORD, brother of incumbent ROB FORD, and OLIVIA CHOW for the win; he had previously run for the post and lost in 2003.
TORY hosted weekends at CFRB in 2009 and then afternoons in 2009 through FEBRUARY of this year, when he declared his candidacy for Mayor. He has also served as Commissioner of the CANADIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE and in several political party and government posts, including leader of the PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE PARTY in ONTARIO.
ROB FORD, who hosted a show with his brother on CFRB during his controversial term in office, was re-elected to his old council seat in TORONTO's Ward 2 TUESDAY as well.
