CBS RADIO Classic Hits WCBS-F/NEW YORK news and weatherman IRV "MR. G" GIKOFSKY signed after 37 years with the station, most recently as part of SCOTT SHANNON's morning show..
“He worked on TV while you were going to bed, and was back on the radio before you woke up," WCBS-F PD JIM RYAN said. "And did it for a heck of a long time. That is a work ethic that we may never see again."
“It’s not easy for me, because I don’t leave things … I’m a marathonner,” MR. G said during his last day on the SCOTT SHANNON in the Morning show this morning. “The way I see it, it’s been 37 years at the station, and being now that I’ve turned 114 – I think it’s time to sleep a little later. A lot of people along the road have always said to me, ‘how do you do it?' “I never was able to give them a good answer. The answer started getting a little clearer yesterday afternoon – I love what I do and I love the people I do it for – which really is our listeners.”
