BONNEVILLE will launch the previously-announced Talk format on KTAR-F/PHOENIX, but after an initial simulcast starting in SEPTEMBER on KTAR-A and the former Urban KKFR (POWER 92), the Talk format presently on 620 AM will remain on 92.3 FM and the AM signal will relaunch as a separate Sports format in JANUARY 2007, with ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS, ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY, ARIZONA CARDINALS, and PHOENIX SUNS games remaining on the AM along with affiliation with ESPN RADIO. BONNEVILLE presently runs a Sports format and ESPN RADIO on sister KMVP-A (ESPN RADIO 860), which has a weaker signal than 620 AM; no indication has been made as to what will air on 860 AM after the launch of Sports on 620.
"KTAR always has delivered great news talk and sports programming to its listeners," said VP/Market Manager ERIK HELLUM. "However, news talk listeners told us they did not want their news interrupted by play-by-play sports, and sports fans told us we did not give them enough sports coverage. With an all-sports format at 620 AM and news talk at 92.3 FM, we can give them what they want when they want it."
