The SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION (SCBA) reported that the L.A. market enjoyed local spot increases of 3% and national spot increases of 5.7% in OCTOBER 2014, while MILLER KAPLAN ARASE’s OCTOBER summary also found 1.3% local spot increases and 18.0% national spot growth in SAN DIEGO. Total market revenue for L.A. was at 7.1% and SAN DIEGO at 8.8% for OCTOBER.
Our entire SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA region produced a very robust OCTOBER as the critical 4th quarter began,” SCBA Pres. THOM CALLAHAN said. “The sluggish Q3 performance we had is a distant memory as advertisers once again looked to SOCAL radio for increased market share and real revenue results.”
Other news of note: NTR/Network/Other revenue soared by 62.9% for L.A. and 26.3% for SAN DIEGO in OCTOBER. Total market revenue YTD is at -2.2% for LOS ANGELES and 2.9% for SAN DIEGO.
“Our combined market growth in OCTOBER should set the stage for a dramatic and positive finish for Q4 and 2014. Our members’ efforts to provide proactive solutions to client challenges really came together in OCTOBER,” said CALLAHAN. “We see enormous positive energy in our markets and our continued regional focus on Radio’s ROI is making a difference for all of our member sales teams.”
