You'll Want To Be On Hand!
Beginning now, JACOBS MEDIA and ALL ACCESS are once again inviting radio stations of all formats to participate in TECHSURVEY11. This is the 11th annual survey in this successful series – a national web-based research study devoted to media and technology mostly using radio station databases. This year, we are also pleased to announce that NUVOODOO will be handling data processing and analysis for this mega-survey.
Four years ago, the survey was opened to all formats and ended up creating the largest research study ever conducted for radio. Our Techsurvey studies have been highly quoted throughout the radio industry as well as by sites like eMarketer and Marketing Charts. Over the years, they have helped broadcast companies better define the direction of the business.
In TECHSURVEY10, 199 radio stations across NORTH AMERICA participated, generating 37,000+ interviews and providing data for 11 different radio formats from Top 40 to Country to News/Talk to Classic Rock. Our goal for TS11 is to achieve similar sample metrics, allowing us to track previous results, while breaking new ground in our ever-changing world of media and technology.
Once again, the results of this year's survey will be presented at the 5th ANNUAL WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT in HOLLYWOOD, APRIL 22nd-24th, 2015.
Our deadline for sign-up is JANUARY 9th! We need your station's commitment as soon as possible. You can sign up here!
What's Inside Techsurvey11?
Research topics will track traditional media usage (TV, radio), as well as the wide array of social media sites (FACEBOOK, TWITTER, PINTEREST, SNAPCHAT, etc.), and gadgets (the digital dash, smartphones, tablets, etc.).
Additionally, the survey will delve into station related activities -- social media usage, in-car listening and the impact of the "connected car," the growth of streaming, as well as on-demand programming.
We will also continue to track how other media outlets perform -– by format and by demographic. From YOUTUBE to PANDORA to SPOTIFY to SIRIUSXM.
TS11 will provide actionable data to help you best understand how your competitive landscape is changing – and what you can do about it.
To keep up with the changes in media consumption -– especially as they impact radio -– new questions in TS11 will provide important data points to help stations plan and strategize. These include measuring interest in FM listening on smartphones, as well as awareness of the NextRadio initiative.
This year's survey will take a deeper dive into in-car media usage, especially among owners with "connected cars."
TS11 will also delve into mobile app desires, priorities, and usage, including questions about data plans and their impact on listening.
Based on last year's findings, we will also ask additional questions about the streaming experience, as well as willingness to provide stream registration information. As we have done the past three years, we will continue to track what's working for PANDORA – as well as what repels listeners.
Our Media Usage Pyramids for local stations, 11 formats, five generations, and the total sample (below) are hanging up in cubicles, offices, and air studios throughout the U.S. and Canada. This is information that every programmer and manager needs to develop smart strategies that can capitalize on the opportunities presented by new media and technology.
How Do Your Station(s), Clusters, Companies Participate In TS11?
•TS11 will be fielded in mid-January 2015. We must have commitments for the survey no later than January 9, 2015. Jacobs Media handles all details of the study, and provides email copy and all technical aspects of participation.
•Stations have two options for participating in the survey:
1. A small participation fee for local station data. We will survey your database (up to 600 completed interviews). You will receive your local market data, the total survey data, your format data, and your station's media usage pyramid. You will also be able to participate in a free participants-only webinar that reviews the key findings this spring. Anyone from your station is eligible to attend. We are holding the rate for TS11 to last year's levels:
Top 20 markets: $500
Markets 21-50: $400
Markets 51+: $3002. No participation fee. If you elect to not pay the fee, you can still participate in the study. While you will not receive local data or a media usage pyramid for your station, you will receive the survey's key national findings, as well as participation in the webinar.
We also offer discounts for additional stations in your cluster or company, so please check with us to see if you qualify.
Sign-up here and fill in the form for each radio station you would like to have participate.
If you have a large number of stations (more than five) you would like to register, please contact LISA RIKER directly via e-mail, or call her at (248) 353-9030 for discount information.
