ACEMLA DE PUERTO RICO, INC. and LATIN AMERICAN MUSIC COMPANY, INC. (LAMCO), two PUERTO RICO-based performing rights organizations, have sued LA MAS Z RADIO, INC., DOMINGA BARRETO-SANTIAGO (and her "John Doe" spouse and "conjugal partnership"), AUREO ARNALDO MATOS-BARRETO, a "Jane Doe," and "Companies A-Z" in U.S. District Court in PUERTO RICO for copyright infringement.
The complaint, filed NOVEMBER 19th, alleges that the defendants played music, the rights to which are held by the plaintiffs, on LA MAS Z's Spanish Oldies WTIL-A (RADIO UTIL 1300AM)/MAYAGÜEZ, PR, MATOS' Spanish Variety WDNO-A (960AM)/QUEBRADILLAS, PR and BARRETO's Spanish Variety WWNA-A (RADIO UNA 1340AM)/AGUADILLA, PR. The suit names 12 songs played on the stations and alleges that the defendants do not have current paid licenses to play them.
