DAVID BELL has been appointed SVP, Integrated Marketing & Digital Strategy for DEF JAM RECORDINGS by CEO STEVE BARTELS. BELL has assembled a top-shelf team of young professionals for a dynamic new department at DEF JAM that is poised to handle today’s rapidly evolving digital marketing universe. Mr. Bell will be based in New York.
"I can’t thank STEVE BARTELS enough for giving me the rare opportunity to help lead DEF JAM into the digital future," said BELL. "The new Digital Department is dedicated to delivering strategies and best practices that integrate Digital into every aspect of the label's artist campaigns. We’re focused on identifying and building audiences, then engaging with a high-touch approach to content and messaging. Our goal is to capture the new consumer journey and efficiently deliver fans to their preferred method of music consumption.”
Each artist will now have their own “team” consisting of at least one Digital Marketer & Strategist, and at least one Content & Community Manager, along with a Digital Marketing & Creative specialist, as follows:
FRANZ DE LOS REYES is newly promoted to Senior Director, Digital Marketing & Strategy, while MARLEISSE STEPHENS is named Senior Manager, Digital Marketing & Strategy
Their primary duties will be to manage and execute overall digital marketing for artists and projects, build large scale innovative and disruptive marketing campaigns, and partner with the latest technologies to deliver “first”-type experiences.
FELIX JAVIER and DYLAN BREWER, as Managers, Content & Community, will maintain artist websites and social platforms, while building and executing compelling social and web content calendars to ensure engaging messaging.
KABAR BROWN, Manager, Digital Marketing & Creative, will handle digital marketing, as well as digital asset design.
BELL joins DEF JAM from SONY MUSIC, where he served as VP, Digital Marketing & Strategy, since 2008. He began his career in music at ELEKTRA RECORDS in 1998, as an assistant in the Marketing Department. In 2000, he moved to UMG’s "GLOBAL E” division in the early days of label digital business. One year later he was appointed Product Manager at V2 RECORDS, where he co-founded V2’s MTA RECORDS. He joined JIVE RECORDS in 2006, as Director, Digital and quickly rose to Vice President, Digital Marketing & Strategy.
