iHEARTMEDIA Country WAMZ/LOUISVILLE PD/Afternoon personality COYOTE CALHOUN signed off the air this AFTERNOON (12/3), making his retirement official (NET NEWS, 7/15) and capping a 35-year run at the station.
In his last-ever break for ‘AMZ, CALHOUN told listeners he originally signed on FEBRUARY 5th, 1980, adding, “I could not have stayed here this long without the great KENTUCKIANA listeners helping to make us so successful.” CALHOUN expressed gratitude to station fans, past and present station staffers, and praising current management of ‘AMZ and iHEARTMEDIA “For being so gracious since I first announced my decision.”
Additionally, CALHOUN reiterated his reasons for hanging it up, saying “It’s always better to leave a couple years early, instead of being asked to step down.”
COYOTE closed with, “Thanks again for making this boy from OKLAHOMA feel like LOUISVILLE, KY is my home!”
The day was not fully complete however, as CALHOUN’s next stop is a big concert event honoring his time with WAMZ. "COYOTE'S ACOUSTIC CONCERT 2014" is set for TONIGHT at the KFC YUM CENTER in LOUISVILLE (NET NEWS, 11/13).
LITTLE BIG TOWN, CHRIS YOUNG, JAKE OWEN, TOBY KEITH, CRAIG MORGAN, MONTGOMERY GENTRY, MADDIE & TAE, KRISTIAN BUSH, and JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY are all confirmed to perform.
