GLENN BECK's THEBLAZE is among the parties who have joined to fight the proposed COMCAST-TIME WARNER CABLE merger in a group called the STOP MEGA COMCAST COALITION.
PREMIERE NETWORKS host and THEBLAZE network founder BECK's company joined DISH NETWORK (which carries THEBLAZE TV), the WRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA, WEST, PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE, CONSUMER ACTION, the FUTURE OF MUSIC COALITION, the PARENTS TELEVISION COUNCIL, cable network WEATHERNATION, NTCA- THE RURAL BROADBAND ASSOCIATION, FAIR POINT COMMUNICATIONS, the GREENLINING INSTITUTE, SPORTSFANS.ORG, THE INDEPENDENT TELEPHONE AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS ALLIANCE, independent cable/Internet provider HARGRAY, and the CONSUMER FEDERATION OF AMERICA in the group, announced this week.
The organization says that the merger threatens the ideals of a "competitive, dynamic and diverse media and technology marketplace," "runs counter to our antitrust and communications laws," and should be blocked by the DEPT. OF JUSTICE and the FCC.
The FCC has resumed its review of the merger, restarting its 180-day clock on the process and a similar review of the AT&T-DIRECTV merger.
