WSOU Sets Holiday Specials

SETON HALL UNIVERSITY noncommercial Active Rock WSOU (SETON HALL PIRATE RADIO)/SOUTH ORANGE, NJ is once again planning special programming for the CHRISTMAS and NEW YEAR'S season.
Special shows include "THE 12 DAYS OF METAL," with metal, punk, and novelty covers of CHRISTMAS and CHANUKAH songs; "THE DECOMPRESSIONS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL" with two hours of traditional CHRISTMAS carols and songs; Catholic programming on CHRISTMAS EVE including call-in show "A FRANCISCAN CHRISTMAS" with Brother GREG CELLINI, live Mass from OUR LADY OF SORROWS CHURCH in SOUTH ORANGE, and the annual SETON HALL CHRISTMAS message from school President A. GABRIEL ESTEBAN; and more metal covers of CHRISTMAS carols on the early CHRISTMAS morning "CHRISTMAS POWER CUTS."
On CHRISTMAS DAY, the morning will include the annual broadcast of BACH's CHRISTMAS ORATARIO, followed by TOM BROKAW reading the CHRISTMAS story from the Gospel of LUKE and tenor ALFIE BOE singing carols; "A FESTIVAL OF NINE LESSONS AND CAROLS"; a special on "SPORTS AND SPIRITUALITY" with Father WARREN HALL; more carols; and CHRISTMAS DAY Mass and a repeat of the SHU President's CHRISTMAS message. At noon, a "CHRISTMAS MIX" of carols will lead into "A MERRY METAL CHRISTMAS" at 12:39, running through 8p (ET).
For NEW YEAR'S EVE, the station's "STREET PATROL" unsigned bands show will offer a retrospective of the most requested and played songs of 2014, followed at midnight by "THE LOUDEST NEW YEAR," six hours of the station's "very loudest rock." At noon on NEW YEAR'S DAY, WSOU will do its annual "TOP 89 COUNTDOWN" of the top songs in the metal/punk/hardcore/post-hardcore genres.
