AFRIKAA BAMBAATAA, HARRY BELAFONTE's rap movie "Beat Street," SUGAR HILL RECORDS and legendary BRONX club DISCO FEVER will be among those inducted into the 2015 HIP HOP HALL OF FAME during its awards ceremony in late MARCH 2015 at a venue in NEW YORK CITY.
AFRIKA BAMBAATAA will receive a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT award, while BELAFONTE's seminal hip-hop film, "Beat Street" marks its 30th anniversary. SAL ABITELLO and his DISCO FEVER gave many hip-hop stars and legends their start. SYLVIA ROBINSON's SUGAR HILL RECORDS, BOBBY ROBINSON's ENJOY RECORDS and HARLEM's MIKE & DAVE RECORDS & PROMOTIONS make up the INSTITUTIONAL INDUCTEES.
The 2015 artists, groups, DJs, B-Boys/Girls, and graffiti writer inductees will be unveiled at the HIP HOP HALL OF FAME AWARDS INDUCTEE PRESS CONFERENCE in JANUARY.
"We are very excited about this 2015 inductee class as it continues to fulfill our commitment to tell the whole story of hip-hop music and culture from its inception, to its early stages, and transformation to records, radio, films and entrepreneurship that has become a global business and socio-economic phenomenon," stated the awards show creator and executive producer JT THOMPSON, which originally aired on BET NETWORKS in the '90s, and recently on SOUL OF THE SOUTH TV network.
