Music business veteran VERONICA GRETTON's BROOKLYN-based 401K MUSIC has signed HAPPY MONDAYS and BLACK GRAPE frontman SHAUN RYDER for worldwide publishing administration rights and for his artist rights representation.
"SHAUN is one of my favorite people in the music business and I'm delighted to be back working with him," said GRETTON. "I first worked with him nearly 20 years ago while at RADIOACTIVE RECORDS. Next year is the 20th anniversary of their debut album, "It's Great When You're Straight... Yeah!" and I think its distinct mix of rap, house, rock, soul and pop has yet to be duplicated by anyone. I can't can't wait for us to start working the songs and bringing them to new audiences."
RYDER recently saw his autobiography top the sales charts in the UK, finished as a runner-up in the British version of the TV show, "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here" and has an ongoing role as a host on THE HISTORY CHANNEL.
"I'm pleased that he's happy and healthy and got his life back on track and we're here to clean up some business dealing that took advantage of him back in the day," added GRETTON, who promised "a worldwide sweep of the monies due to him, to tidy up copyright registrations worldwide, and get his share of monies rolling in to him immediately."
GRETTON plans on teaming up with UMG to pitch music supervisors and ad companies.
RYDER will be touring worldwide next year with the HAPPY MONDAYS, promoting the 25th anniversary of "Pills, Thrills And Bellyaches." He will also be filming a TV special in the AMAZON rainforest, doing a second season of THIS HISTORY CHANNEL's "SHAUN RYDER On UFOs" and will appear on UK TV this Christmas as part of "Celebrity Come Dine With Me."
"We want Shaun's songs to work as hard for him as he does for himself," added GRETTON.
Among the acts whose interests GRETTON represents are AMBULANCE LTD., AZTEC CAMERA and RODDY FRAME, THE B52's, TALKING HEADS and TOM TOM CLUB.
