MULTICHANNEL NEWS is reporting that the three Democratic commissioners on the FCC are voting to extend the online public and political file requirement to radio, cable television, and satellite operators.
The rule was originally instituted for broadcast television stations, and the Commission opened the question of extending the requirement of putting public and political files online to radio and satellite licensees for public comment in AUGUST. Chairman TOM WHEELER circulated a draft extending the requirement to radio, cable, and satellite in OCTOBER, and MULTICHANNEL NEWS is now reporting that his two fellow Democrats, MIGNON CLYBURN and JESSICA ROSENWORCEL, have joined him in voting in favor of the proposal, meaning that the measure will pass regardless of how Republicans AJIT PAI and MIKE O'RIELLY vote.
