Detroit TV News Anchor Bill Bonds Dies At 82

BILL BONDS, who became synonymous with local TV news in DETROIT as the longtime anchor at ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV, died SATURDAY in BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI of a heart attack at 82. BONDS started as a reporter at WKNR-A, WCAR-A, WPON-A, and WQTE before joining WXYZ-TV as a booth announcer and then anchor, working there in 1963-68, then at ABC's KABC-TV/LOS ANGELES before returning to WXYZ in 1971, staying there, apart for a stint at WABC-TV/NEW YORK in 1974-76, through his 1995 retirement.
BONDS hosted a show on BIRACH BROADCASTING Talk WCAR-A/LIVONIA-DETROIT with former WXYZ-TV, WKBD-TV, and WJBK-TV anchor RICH FISHER in 2011-12. He also briefly hosted a talk show at WJBK-TV and did some commentaries for WXYZ-TV in 1999.
