ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-F/BOSTON's WEEI.COM website has hired BOSTON HERALD baseball columnist JOHN TOMASE to serve as Senior Sportswriter and Columnist, starting JANUARY 1st. TOMASE, at the HERALD covering the RED SOX and PATRIOTS since 2005, will cover all sports for WEEI and will appear on the air as a contributor. He is taking over the position being vacated by ALEX SPEIER, who is leaving to join THE BOSTON GLOBE as Feature Writer.
WEEI.COM Editor ROB BRADFORD said, “In bringing JOHN aboard, we feel that WEEI and WEEI.com are welcoming one of the best columnists in the country to our family. I am excited to once again work with JOHN, who I have always viewed as one of the most talented journalists on the NEW ENGLAND sports scene.”
TOMASE said, “The world of journalism is changing. It’s no longer enough to work on just one platform. The WEEI brand is recognized beyond the borders of NEW ENGLAND not just for its award-winning programming, but for the quality of its reporting, which is a tribute to ROB and his team. I’m looking forward to continuing what they started while stirring the passions of the best sports fans in the world.”
