New Format Coming Friday As JVC Closes On KQ103/Orlando

With the closing of the sale by TTB MEDIA CORP. of Spanish Hits WHKQ (KQ103)/WINDERMERE-ORLANDO, FL to JVC MEDIA OF FLORIDA, LLC for $10 million, the station will be changing formats as of FRIDAY (12/19) at 1:03p (ET). In the interim, the present staff will be dismissed as JVC officially takes control on TUESDAY (12/16), and the station is simulcasting crosstown iHEARTMEDIA Tropical WRUM (RUMBA 100.3)'s morning show for the rest of the week under a short-term marketing agreement. RADIOINSIGHT.COM is reporting that the call letters WOTW have been requested for the new format.
JVC has also announced some staff appointments for the new station, including former crosstown COX MEDIA GROUP Rock AC WMMO GSM CHRIS GANOUDIS as GM, former iHEARTMEDIA and COX MEDIA GROUP ORLANDO sales executive STEVE AVELLONE as Director of National Sales, and local on-air veterans ROD "SHADOW" GRANT, formerly of crosstown COX MEDIA GROUP Country WWKA (K92) and CENTRAL FLORIDA EDUCATIONAL ASSN. Contemporary Christian WPOZ (Z88.3), and JVC sister Dance WPTY (PARTY 105.3)/CALVERTON, LONG ISLAND APD/MD/host MURPH DAWG heading up the programmng department. EVP SHANE REEVE will add the new station to his list of stations for which he has oversight.
