COLOFF MEDIA Classic Rock KLKK (103.7 THE FOX)/MASON CITY, IA PD/middays JAMES SHAMAN discussed on-air how immigration reform impacts him personally, as he faces deportation to CANADA, KIMT.COM reports.
SHAMAN, who is scheduled to appear at a hearing in BLOOMINGTON, IA with federal officials on his immigration status, admitted he once broke the law. Until three years ago, his legal status was protected by a permanent residential visa, but with his criminal record, his green card was rescinded and he was placed on parole legal status.
“There’s a whole lot more to immigration and I’m not the only one that’s dealing with this," he said. "I don’t even think I’m the only person in north IOWA dealing with this, there may be others. I consider myself rather fortunate that I have the means to speak aloud with my microphone and my radio station and let people hear about this.”
SHAMAN hopes to stay in MASON CITY close to his community and his daughter. "I’m not the only person that’s going through this," he said. "There are a whole lot of them. I consider myself rather fortunate because there are people who have been incarcerated for extended periods of time awaiting their trials. All this just because the immigration courts are so backlogged and that’s why it’s taking so long to get this issue resolved.”
