BILLY IDOL and the NHL are teaming up to pay tribute to the U.S. ARMED FORCES and the nation's capital during pre-game festivities at the nationally televised NHL WINTER CLASSIC on NBC, JANUARY 1st at 1p (ET).
The NEW YEAR'S DAY outdoor ice hockey game will be held at NATIONALS PARK in WASHINGTON, D.C., and pit the CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS against the hometown WASHINGTON CAPITALS.
After his pre-game performance, IDOL will set out on a month-long NORTH AMERICAN winter tour in support of his newly released album "Kings & Queens Of The Underground," kicking off JANUARY 21st in NEW ORLEANS
IDOL will pay tribute to the UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES from the main stage at home plate before the puck drops during the pre-game and in-game festivities. Following his performance, IDOL will be joined near the stage by more than 150 members of all five branches of the U.S. ARMED FORCES, who will be attending the game as honored guests of the NHL, for a special salute.
"Kings & Queens Of The Underground" -- IDOL’s first studio album in almost a decade -- was released in OCTOBER on BFI RECORDS via KOBALT LABEL SERVICES. The album was primarily produced by TREVOR HORN, with GRAMMY-nominated GREG KURTSIN also contributing as producer to two songs, including “Can’t Break Me Down.” His critically acclaimed autobiogaphy, "Dancing With Myself," was published by SIMON & SCHUSTER earlier this fall.
