As first hinted by ALL ACCESS (see NET NEWS 7/11), MARK FISCHER has been appointed SVP/Promotion, Rock Formats, at ISLAND DEF JAM MUSIC GROUP (IDJMG), it was announced today by IDJMG EVP/Promotion GREG THOMPSON.
In his new position, FISCHER will be responsible for overseeing IDJ releases to the Rock radio formats, which includes Alternative, Active and Heritage Rock. He will direct the company’s National Rock staff and the entire IDJ Pop Promotion staff on strategizing the release and execution of all related company priorities. In addition, he will interface with artist management, booking agencies and independent promotion and marketing firms on behalf of all rock releases being worked by the promotion department. FISCHER, who is based in NEW YORK, will report directly to THOMPSON.

"MARK is a welcome addition to the IDJ senior management team," said THOMPSON. "He represents big picture thinking with a clear perspective on today’s rock radio landscape."
Added FISCHER, "I am eager to join GREG THOMPSON and the IDJ promo team at such a pivotal time in our business. We have a great opportunity to amp up ISLAND’s legendary brand- and I appreciate that LA REID and STEVE BARTELS are entrusting me to do that."
FISCHER comes to the label from ON-ENTERTAINMENT in NEW YORK CITY, where he was a partner since June 2004. He began his career in 1991, as ATLANTIC RECORDS Regional Promotion Rep in DALLAS.
