ALL ACCESS is profoundly saddened to report the passing of S.I.N. Founder VINCE PELLEGRINO -- Founder/Owner/Pres. of the PELLEGRINO ENTERTAINMENT GROUP, INC -- this morning (2/4) following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.
ALL ACCESS Pres./Publisher JOEL DENVER said, "VINCE was an icon in the world of music promotion and marketing and did so much to advance the careers of countless artists. He was loved by so many in the music business, radio and of course the artists he worked with. VINCE touched people's lives and made a true difference all during his long and successful career. He will truly be missed."
PELLEGRINO's passion for music led to him becoming a DJ days in the early ‘70s, where he spun records at local clubs and bars in NEW JERSEY. By the mid-70s with Disco in full swing, PELLEGRINO started selling and promoting Dance music at CBS RECORDS, eventually overseeing the very first Disco Department at CBS RECORDS. He was also responsible for opening up the music account at multi-media retail superstore, J&R MUSIC WORLD.
CBS RADIO SVP/Programming & Music Initiatives MICHAEL MARTIN told ALL ACCESS, "I'm so terribly sorry to hear the news Vince passed today. To this day my absolute favorite award I have ever received came from him and it was my HATES TO LOSE AT ANYTHING award. I'll miss my old friend."
REPUBLIC SVP/Promotion & Operations GARY SPANGLER contacted ALL ACCESS, saying, "VINCE was a true legend and will be sorely missed. One of the few that really kept it about the music."
FRANK MURRAY, VP/Promotion at ROBBINS ENTERTAINMENT told ALL ACCESS, "I worked for VINCE at S.I.N. for two years (1998-2000). I haven't seen anyone as passionate about music as he. His loss will be immeasurable."
WPLJ/NEW YORK morning personality TODD PETTENGILL commented to ALL ACCESS, "VINCE was not only my friend but my neighbor for the last 20 years. He was, in his private life, as he was in public ... bigger than life. VINCE loved the industry almost as much as his amazing train collection but above all, was his love for his amazing family. My heart goes out to his wife BARB and his wonderful kids MICHAEL, JOSEPH and CHRISTINA. RIP my friend."
ELITE PROMOTION's ISSY SANCHEZ wrote on his FACEBOOK page, "VINCE PELLEGRINO RIP. Honored to have now him for 38 years. I can't think of anyone more passionate about their job than him. He inspired me to do better just by his examples of courage, compassion and his drive. All this in the name of the industry and the music he truly loved. I respected him and also envied him. Now I will miss him. Another music angel for the heavens. My heartfelt condolences to his family and many many friends."
Always willing to give back to his community, VINCE supported such organizations as WORLDVISION, CITY OF HOPE, the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY's BREAST CANCER INITIATIVE, LIFEBEAT- THE MUSIC INDUSTRY FIGHTS AIDS, THE TJ MARTELL FOUNDATION and COOLEY's ANEMIA FOUNDATION to name just a few of his charitable endeavors.
VINCE resided in CEDAR GROVE, NJ with his wife, BARBARA and three children, MICHAEL, JOSEPH and CHRISTINA.
