A previously unreleased ROY ORBISON track, "The Way Is Love," was discovered by his sons WESLEY, ROY JR. and ALEX on a cassette, who then go on to play on the version which appeared on last year's 25th anniversary deluxe reissue of their dad's 1988 album "Mystery Girl" on SONY's LEGACY RECORDINGS.
The unearthing of the song, a soaring ballad, is the subject of the FOX BUSINESS NETWORK's new reality series, "Strange Inheritance," where host JAMIE COLBY travels throughout the country interviewing people who have inherited something unusual.
The new episode, which airs FEBRUARY 23rd at 9:30p (ET) on FOX BUSINESS NETWORK and SIRIUSXM channell 113, features COLEY meeting with ORBISON's three sons -- WESLEY, A;EX and ROY JR. -- who found the song among their inheritance recorded on a homemade cassette. With the help of family friend JOHN CARTER CASH, son of the late JOHNNY CASH, they manage to restore the audio on the cassette -- thanks to a GERMAN technology company -- and join their father on the track, with WESLEY, ROY JR. and JOHN CARTER CASH playing guitar, ALEX on drums, and the three siblings providing harmony vocals.
ROY ORBISON died DECEMBER 6th, 1988 of a massive heart attack in NASHVILLE while visiting his parents. WESLEY is the son of ROY and first wife CLAUDETTE, who died in a tragic motorcycle accident, while ALEX and ROY JR. are the children from his marriage to BARBARA.
"It was like hearing an old friend," ROY JR. tells "Strange Inheritance" host JAMIE COLBY on unearthing the cassette of "The Way Is Love."
