WBGO Pres./CEO Cephas Bowles Dies At 62

Condolences to family and friends of NEWARK PUBLIC RADIO noncommercial Jazz WBGO/NEWARK-NEW YORK Pres./ CEO CEPHAS BOWLES, who died SATURDAY (2/21) in HACKENSACK, NJ at 62.  BOWLES had taken a leave of absence late last year to get treatment for Leukemia.

BOWLES launched his radio career at CBS NEWS in 1974, moving to TUCSON in 1978 to work at UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA noncommercial KUAT-F. He became GM at WBGO in 1993 and was upped to Pres./CEO in 2009. He served on the board of NPR as well as being Chairman of the Investment and Administration/Finance Committees.
