SALT LAKE CITY-based radio group owner BROADWAY MEDIA principal and MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER's REAL SALT LAKE owner DELL LOY HANSEN has been fined by MLS for comments he made about the league's labor strife on Sports KALL-A (ESPN 700)/SALT LAKE CITY last WEDNESDAY (3/25). The fine amount was undisclosed in the league's release.
HANSEN called the players' union's call for free agency "a go-nowhere conversation" and "a waste of time" in criticizing the union as negotiations over the controversy go down to the wire with the regular season looming.
"The comments made by Mr. HANSEN are not permitted under the League’s Constitution," said MLS Commissioner DON GARBER. "We are engaged in constructive negotiations with our players and such comments are not appropriate nor helpful to the negotiations.”
