Experienced A&R executive SOPHIA CHANG has been appointed SVP/A&R Operations, ISLAND RECORDS by label Pres. DAVID MASSEY.
CHANG joins the company from UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP, where she was SVP/A&R Administration and Operations since last APRIL. CHANG will be integrally involved in numerous business aspects of A&R activities, including budgeting and recording, while supervising all day-to-day operations of the A&R department, acting as a liaison with the label to ensure the successful and timely delivery of album releases. “SOPHIA is a highly experienced executive and business woman who brings a wide variety of interests and pursuits to our company,” said MASSEY. “Her backgrounds at major record labels, as well as in management and production, along with media, give her a unique perspective on the challenges and responsibilities of this position.”
“I am thrilled to be joining ISLAND RECORDS,” said CHANG. “In addition to a remarkably robust and diverse roster, DAVID MASSEY and ERIC WONG lead an energetic, talented and enthusiastic team of executives.”
CHANG has also worked as a Marketing and A&R Executive at ATLANTIC and JIVE RECORDS, while serving as a manager for D'ANGELO, Q TIP, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST and RAPHAEL SAADIQ.
